The world of Gelindril

The Essence of Mysidian

Mysidian is the core element of Gelindril, and is present in virtually everything on the planet, much like how carbon is in our world. Mysidian is in living beings, found in the earth and the trees and rocks, evaporates with the water, and comes down in the rain. It also collects and builds upon itself in the upper atmosphere and when it has reached sufficient size, about that of the size of average hailstones, a Mysidian storm occurs which litters the area with an abundance of crystals which can be collected and used for a variety of purposes. These storms occurred typically every few weeks or so. The Acidian people considered Mysidian storms holy days, and a gift from the Gods. They would gather the crystals and use them to fuel their powers. These crystals could be absorbed into the being of an individual during a simple ritual, which consumed the stones but left the worshiper more powerful.

Mankind still gathers the stones, but performs no ritual to any God, rather they consume the stones as part of their diet. It can be ground into dust and added to food or drink. It affects the taste very little, but still adds to the overall energy of the individual.

The use on individuals is most prevalent among Gun Mages and Priests who can utilize the energy in their trade, others have little use for the energies beyond a slighter feeling of empowerment.

Mankind uses the stones very heavily in devices of various types. The stone is used as a fuel to power conveyances, in weapons as a form of ammunition and energy, in reactors to power electrical grids, and a host of other uses.
